Best No-Code AI Agents

Zapier Agents review: agents across 9,000 apps, in transition

The widest reach across SaaS apps in this guide, with a per-tool approval switch. The product and its billing are being reorganised, which makes the cost hard to pin down.

Zapier, founded in 2011, connects thousands of apps through automated workflows1. Its agents use company knowledge, such as FAQs, documents and public links, to do work across more than 9,000 apps2.

Best for: Companies already automating with Zapier that want agents acting across its 9,000+ app connections, with a per-tool approval switch.

Not the right fit for: Buyers who need a stable billing model today, or agents working on records the company holds in its own system.

A product in transition

Zapier's blog announces that Zapier Agents is now "AI by Zapier": agents run as a single AI step in the Zap editor, and billing moves to the same task system as other Zaps. Default models are free to use, while other model tiers cost one, three or five tasks per AI step, and a run that crosses 75 tasks pauses for a person3. The pricing page we read still describes agent usage in activities, with separate monthly allowances4. Buyers should confirm which model applies to their account.

Approvals

Each tool can now be set to require approval before it runs, replacing an earlier all-or-nothing setting3. Agents can also be instructed to ask for confirmation through a messaging app, and a Zap can include a Human in the Loop step that sends approval requests by email or Slack5. SAML SSO and an audit log (six months) start on the Team plan; advanced admin permissions and custom data retention are Enterprise features4.

Published evidence

  • Slate (testimonial). Zapier’s agents page quotes Slate saying an agent generated more than 2,000 leads in a single month. Vendor-reported testimonial; no full case study was reviewed.2

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • The widest app reach in this guide, which suits companies whose records are spread across many SaaS tools.
  • Each tool can be set to require approval before running, and Zaps can include a Human in the Loop step by email or Slack.
  • Runs pause for a person when a single run crosses a usage threshold.

Limits

  • The product and its billing are in transition: Zapier’s blog describes task-based billing, while its pricing page still describes agent activities.
  • SSO and audit logs start on the Team plan; advanced admin permissions are Enterprise-only.
  • Higher model tiers cost more tasks per AI step, which makes heavy use harder to forecast.
  • No security certifications are named on the agents page.

Choose another option if: You need predictable billing now, or agents that act on records inside one system. OpenLazarus or n8n are steadier choices.

Pricing

Published: Professional from $19.99 a month billed annually ($29.99 monthly) for 750 tasks; Team from $69 a month billed annually for 2,000 tasks. Agent usage is metered separately during the transition.

Questions to ask Zapier

  • Is our account billed for agents in activities or in tasks, and from when?
  • Which model tier will our agents use, and how many tasks does each AI step cost?
  • Which tools should require approval, and who receives the requests?
  • Do we need the Team plan for SSO and an audit log?
